Coffee dollars help kids and others
When the people of St. Andrew's gather for coffee and delicious homemade treats after church, it's a buzzing hour of togetherness. It also presents an opportunity for service. The first thing on the serving table -- before the napkins and forks -- is the Absent Guest Plate on which people drop a dollar or two. Some may think this money is to help buy Folger's, but it's actually sent to the Seward Kiwanis Backpack program, which works with the Food Bank of Lincoln to provide backpacks full of food for low-income children to carry home from school.
